The Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test for all grade ten students
will be written April 11, 2013

Grade ten students at Denison have written a practice literacy test in their English classes this school year.  Semester 1 English students wrote in Dec and received their feedback in January.  Semester 2 English students will write the practice test before March break and will receive feedback and additional support in the weeks following the break. The Denison practice test was created from released questions on the Eqao-OSSLT website.

Below you will find a PDF copy of this year's practice test as well as the links to the multiple choice answer key and the Scoring guides from EQAO that were used for the grading of short and long answer questions

The Denison OSSL Practice Test  2012-13

Any students wishing to brush up on their literacy skills specifically for the OSSLT may do so in our OSSLT Practice Moodle.
This PDF booklet accompanies the use of the practice moodle and will help guide students through the best use of the information found on the moodle.  Students may wish to bring exercises and questions to either Mrs. MacIsaac in the library or Ms. Wallace in Rm. 209.

To log in to the OSSLT moodle type: moodle2.yrdsb.ca into your browser

  • students use their school network login collections
  • use the Search box- type: denison osslt 2013
  • Denison OSSLT 2013 will appear - click on it
  • choose student enrolment option and no enrolment key is required
  • the next time you log in to the moodle ( version 2) the OSSLT moodle will be part of "your courses"

We have just completed two "Literacy Lunch and Learn" sessions in the library where students who had difficulty on the practice test were supported through the use of the moodle and the guidebook.  Literacy teachers provided feedback and toips for their work and students are continuing to work through the booklet.

Our next sessions will will be announced for the weeks of March 25th and/or April 1st and will be announced on the P.A. system . Although open to all students some may receive personal invitations. We will begin with those students who have most recently written the Practice test. Listen to the announcements for more info or contact Mrs. MacIsaac or Ms. Wallace. These sessions have been completed along with sessions April 3/4. St this point see Mrs. MacIsaac or Ms. Wallace directly , pick up packages and check out the online support on this page.
